Since August 8, 2008 the whole world has been witnessing Russia's open military invasion into the independent and sovereign Republic of Georgia. Thousands of soldiers and tanks of the Russian Federation have breached the internationally recognized borders of Georgia and have been fiercely attacking Georgian troops. Furthermore, Russian warplanes have violated the Georgian airspace and carried out air strikes at different Georgian cities outside the conflict zone. These strikes have caused hundreds of casualties among civilian population.
Russian agression has destroyed all attempts of Georgian governmemnt and georgian civil society to demilitarise the region and to secure the peacefull and prosperios cohabitation between ethnic georgian and ethnic ossetian communities. The responsibility for countless civilian casualties among residents of the region, both georgians and ossetians lies on the government of Russian federation who responded on the civic crisis with a blanket use of brute military force."
Key for peace and liberty in the region is now in the hands of Russian generals. By the name of all residents of the region, people of all ethnic origin we are demanding from Russian government to end the hostilities, withdraw the military force and stop preventing georgian government and international community from restoring peace in the region, and introdusing liberty and civil society to all residents.
