Gallery Gabrichidze is glad to present Swedish sculpture artist Per Siwmark. Per started creating sculpture three years ago at a rehabilitation Centre in southern Sweden after having experienced the second burn-out, due to too many working hours for several years. At that time he was employed as a Financial Manager at a software company.
This is how he describes his works: “My works are influenced by the time when I was sick and down. That is why my “heads” are mostly open or cracked. My art ideal is what I am creating.” says Per “It is from the old masters and from my interest in the Roman/Greek ancient history and mythology.
The titles of the works are always linked to that period in our history. This does not mean that I am copying the looks of the gods or the goddesses. I am creating an expression in the faces of my sculptures that shows how I imagine what they were thinking and saying; from all the fantastic myths that have been retold.”
I want the viewers to find out for themselves what my sculptures are trying to say. Try to discover the stories behind the works. “
The technique of building the sculptures is unique. Per has managed after many tests to mix stoneware and metal. The type of colors is also unique when firing to 1270oC. Everything is applied before the last firing and nothing afterwards.
Per wrote to us: “Thanks to the art I am now fully recovered and since one year ago I am not any longer denying what I always wanted to do for my living and that is working as a full-time artist.”
